May 29th, 2018 by

Down in the heart of Texas, football is as much a part of life as breathing. Across our state, high school fields fill up every night in hopes of hard-hitting action and local pride. On June 9th, we’re about to take it up a notch here in Houston, as the 2018 Bayou Bowl will be returning to town! The best high school football players in the city will be taking the field in this East-West showdown, and we’re so excited to bring you all the information you need to enjoy the game!

2018 Bayou Bowl events and history

To fully gauge the true dominance in Gulf Coast football, the Bayou Bowl was started in 2003 as an all-star game between the best high school players from Texas and Louisiana. After taking the series 6-4-1, the game format was shifted to an East-West shrine game of sorts between players in the Greater Houston area. This has been the case ever since 2014, when the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association (GHFCA) became the sole owners of the game and its operations.

This year, you’ll be invited to the game on June 9th, as well as the 16th annual Bayou Bowl Golf Tournament, happening on June 1st at Atascocita Golf Club right here in Humble! All proceeds will go to benefit male and female athletes from Houston, in the form of scholarships to great schools around the state!

In addition, a Quarterback Camp hosted by former Dallas Cowboys signal caller Clint Stoerner will be taking place on June 7th and 8th, and all from grades 7-12 are invited. Come on by to learn how to throw like one of the pros!

2018 Bayou Bowl location and rosters

The Bayou Bowl doesn’t have a fixed location per se, but ever since its inception it has taken place right here in Houston. This time around, it’ll happen at Stallworth Stadium in nearby Baytown, with plenty of festivities happening in the week leading up to kickoff. We’ve also included a link to the game rosters, and we hope to see all of you come and show your support!
